Great software for keeping up with your car maintenance
Great software for keeping up with your car maintenance
We live in a hectic world. Like most people today I am often challenged to find the time to keep up with my car maintenance responsibilities. Between taking care of the kids, working, home maintenance and a myriad of other duties we all face on an every day basis, its hard to remember to get the oil changed every three thousand miles or check the air filter in the family car. Its especially overwhelming if you have several vehicles like me to do the needed car care on a regular basis.
Recently I found a wonderful product named Automotive Wolf car maintenance software that makes it very easy. It will track all your maintenance, repairs and even send you email reminders when a service item is due. You can configure your car maintenance schedule requirements in seconds and then just let it do its thing. Every time you enter a maintenance or fuel record it will also calculate how many miles you are driving per year which lets it begin to predict very accurately when a maintenance item needs to be addressed even if you have not actually used the software in months. It also tracks operating costs and compiles a parts list for you as you add maintenance records. Another awesome feature is that it will let you connect to Infotraxx Automotive Data Services to check for recalls and technical service bulletins. Basically its a total car care package and it really works great!
I have been tracking three vehicles for four months now and the cost analysis shows you clearly which vehicle costs you the most to keep on the road. The reports it produces are also very useful when you want to sell the vehicle so you can present any prospective buyer with a detailed maintenance log which can ultimately increase your cars resale value. Overall its a great car care program that save you alot of money on repairs and I highly recommend it.

How to get auto insurance from a state that your college is in rather than your resident state?
Question by Kurt: How to get auto insurance from a state that your college is in rather than your resident state?
I live in New Jersey where the auto insurance is relatively expensive. However, I go to college in South Carolina where the auto insurance is a lot cheaper than in New Jersey. How can I get the cheaper South Carolina auto insurance? Do I need a South Carolina driver’s license to do this? Should I buy a car from a South Carolina dealership?
Best answer:
Answer by David
You can’t legally–you have to register and insure the car in your state of legal residence, in this case NJ. However, call your agent and check into a “college” rate–many companies give a discount if you’re at school over a certain distance from home. That may help.

Automotive Question Car accident?
Question by phattygirl: Car accident?
I was in a car accident. I have a nissan 200sx, 1997. My lheadlights on one side were busted, my grill was busted and my radiator was damaged and is now leaking. My hood is bent up slightly. Do you think the insurance company will pay for this damage or total the car out. There wasnt much damage done, just front end and the frame is not bent. How much do u think costs will be to fix this damage, estimates, and no stupid answers.
Ps. the car still runs, starts and drives well. All the lighting works…just need a new radiator and basic bumper repair and hood repair and a new grill

Insurance will fix your car if for them it’ll cost less than what it would to get a replacement. From the sounds of the damage, I would say they’ll just fix it.

Automotive Question Can the auto insurance company pay me directly for my medical expenses or do they have to pay the doctor?
Question by Lorraine: Can the auto insurance company pay me directly for my medical expenses or do they have to pay the doctor?
I was in an auto accident and I have medical insurance. My medical insurance covered my medical expenses; however, I wanted to know if the auto insurance is still liable for those expenses? It seems as if my having medical insurance should benefit me and not the liable party’s auto insurance company. If I did not have medical insurance the auto insurance company would still have to pay for those expenses. So shouldn’t they still have to pay for those expenses and I get what ever is left that my medical insurance company did not pay? Are there any laws statures that back this up in Georgia? I am trying to settle this claim without getting an attorney and I need all the help I can get. Any advice would be helpful. I am in the process of writing a demand letter. Thanks for all the help.
Best answer:
Answer by Diane A
Yes and no. The medical bills should be refunded to you by the other person’s medical insurance if they were found at fault. Have your lawyer (or you) send a demand letter w/ a copy of the medical bills (before insurance took care of the cost). Then you will receive a ck from the auto insurance company to you for your bills.

Recipes For Car Crashes And Road Accidents
Recipes For Car Crashes And Road Accidents
When the term “Car” came into existence, little did people know that it will give birth to a host of other terms like Car Crashes and Road Accidents. Even now, in this day and age of highly evolved automobiles that offer numerous safety features, the number of road accidents and the number of resulting fatalities are actually on the increase.
If you are an avid follower of the daily news, whether on TV or through the print media, you would notice that hardly a day goes by when there is no news about someone being involved in a car crash. In fact, such news is so common now that we don’t even treat it as news anymore and there usually is a dedicated section for such happenings in the morning paper and the news on TV. To make the case grim, there are minor accidents that don’t even get reported.
There will never be a clear cut reason for road accidents. Even a minor lapse in concentration on one’s part can result in a car crash that might end up involving other vehicles and even pedestrians. You can do everything right while driving a car and still some irresponsible and reckless driver might bump his vehicle into yours. The worst thing is that even if you don’t have a car, you might still end up being involved in a car accident.
In this case, remember that road accidents can still be avoided by following some simple driving rules and keeping your eyes open and your mind alert whilst on the road. Let’s take a look at some of the basic causes for road disasters.
Reckless driving habits and Absent Mindedness is one of the chief contributors to this menace. Some people just do not care about anyone else on the road when they are at the steering wheel. Carelessness is definitely the cause for most driving mishaps. When you are driving a vehicle, you should only focus on the road and everything else around you should be secondary. While driving, talking on the mobile phone, fiddling with the car stereo and thinking about personal issues are the most likely causes for a lapse in concentration that may result in an accident.
Then there is the menace of drunk driving and underage drivers. Alcohol, even if taken in lesser quantities, impairs sensory perceptions in humans. If your senses are not functioning properly, you can’t even control your own self let alone a vehicle. Drunk drivers usually drive fast to experience thrills and that’s when most accidents take place. Underage drivers don’t have the sense of judgment of an adult and that is why there is an age limit for driving in the first place. Underage drivers without an accompanying guide or proper training also contribute immensely towards road accidents.
Badly maintained vehicles that are not road-worthy are the ones that you will mostly find involved in accidents. Your car is a machine and if this machine is not maintained properly and looked after well, it can let you down where it matters the most, i.e. on the road. Brake failures, tire failures, clutch and steering problems are some of the basic part failures in cars that can be avoided by getting your vehicle serviced on time and by maintaining it properly. A little bit of care for your own vehicle can prevent you from being involved in a precarious situation on the road. An accident due to your ill-maintained vehicle is your own fault and by your negligence you are endangering your own life along with that of others on the road.
There are lights in the exterior of your vehicle for a reason other than cosmetic appeal. They are there to allow you to see in low-light conditions and also allow others to see your vehicle in the process. There is an undeniable relationship between night-driving and accidents on the road. The obvious reason for that being decreased visibility. If you have faulty lights in your vehicle you might end up being involved in an accident. Make sure all lights in your vehicle are functioning properly to ensure a safe run on the streets in low visibility conditions.
A bit of care and restraint while driving and sense of driving rules can go a long way in avoiding catastrophes on the road. Remember that a road mishap may not entirely be your fault but you could still find yourself involved in one. That is why it is imperative to spread the message of safe driving practices across to everyone.
Let’s make roads safer!

Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
Question by Sean P: Is the auto-insurance claim information shared if I switch the insurance company?
Hi!
I am with auto-insurance company X right now and due to few number of insurance claims that I had made, my insurance is going up. I am wondering if I try to switch to some company Y, will X share my claims information with Y?
Thanks!
Best answer:
Answer by Stupid Flanders
Your driving record (including accidents, tickets and filed claims) is public knowledge and is kept on a database through your state. Most states use the same database so that your driving record is basically public knowledge.
While Insurance company Y doesn’t get information directly from Insurance company X, all they have to do is look up on the database to find all of your tickets, claims and accidents.
Basically, you shouldn’t lie on your application because you won’t get away with it.

Saving Money On Your Car Maintenance
Saving Money On Your Car Maintenance
Maintaining your vehicle may be a challenge in these trying times. Many people think that by letting go of regular car maintenance they are saving. In truth, people who let their vehicles go may end up with a whole lot of car trouble.
You don’t have to spend big bucks on maintaining your car. Here are few tips on saving money on your car maintenance.
Canvass
If you’re going to bring your car in to a dealership or to an independent auto mechanic, ask what they charge for routine maintenance.
You won’t lose your warranty if you go to an independent mechanic instead of a dealer. An independent mechanic, especially one you know on a personal level, will charge you less than what a dealership would.
If the mechanic or dealership wants you to have extra work done, you don’t have to. Maintenance measures that are not included in the owner’s manual are nice but not necessary. Don’t feel pressured into having them.
Always get quotes from dealers and car mechanics in the area. However, consider quality of service and after sales. You may end up paying a bit more than the lowest quote you receive but get better service and after sales. That should also be a factor in your decision making process.
Avoid Stress
While the advice may be good for you too, this is also true for your car. Excessive stress can damage your car. Stressing your car will lead to a breakdown and wear your vehicle out faster. A broken down vehicle will require more maintenance and in a worst case scenario, a replacement.
Driving well will lead to longer car life and more value when you choose to upgrade to a better model.
Promos
There are innovative ways of cutting on costs. Did you know that a free oil change is available in certain states for individuals who meet the requirements?
You can also get free gas if you’re a frequent traveler. If you drive at least a thousand miles every month, you can sign up and get free gas in return for acting as a mobile advertisement. A magnetic sign will be placed on your car and the size of the sign will determine how much free gas you will get.
Inflate Tires
Keep your tires well inflated. Too much or too little air can damage your tires and require you to have them replaced. You should know how much air is best for your tires. Keep the air at that level.
Fluid Checks and Oil Changes
Gas isn’t the only fluid your car needs to operate smoothly. You should also check that oil, transmission fluid and engine coolant are at optimum levels. If any of these are inadequate, an engine collapse may be in the offing.
As oil is of vital importance to your car, have it changed every three thousand miles. Regular oil changes can increase your engine’s life and performance. Thus, you get more value from your car in the long run.
Wash and Wax Regularly
Taking care of your car’s internal components is important. However, do not ignore the exterior. A clean, well polished car is a source of joy to any car owner. Regular washing and waxing can also prevent corrosion problems. Corrosion problems can lower your car’s value.
A car is a machine and machines need proper maintenance. Having your car maintained at regular intervals can extend the car’s life and functionality. Regular maintenance will save you from expensive repairs and the possibility of purchasing another vehicle.
But the ultimate car maintenance money saving tip is: do it yourself. If you can do it properly, do the servicing yourself.
