AVON is a good and solid business to start. Ebay is another, but you would have to have a real interest in anything you start because there MUST be passion. I would first write down on a piece of paper all the things you would do with your time if you never had to work a day in your life. Just write them down. Not all can convert into a home based business, but at least one will. Find your passion first then work around that.

If you want your pantings to be known, start a blog. You do not need a website and you can get a free blog at http://www.blogger.com/. This will increase your ratings online and you’ll be known as an expert. Write rich, keyword content. Also, place your information somewhere on that site so they can contact you about seeing your paintings. Try to write 2-4 blogs per week and I guarantee you will see a difference. Good Luck to you!!

start by knowing your potential market and also by looking for a good place to put up your business. putting up business isnt as easy as it may seem it requires alot of study and time consuming. if you really are into it you should do some feasibility studies about it so you’ll get to know more about your potential market and other factors that might affect your planned business. you can also ask advices from people who are engage in the same kind of business and learned about how they mange and how they’ve started.

How do I go about starting a home based business? What are some grants that I can apply for to help me?

Question by ..shy<3: How do I go about starting a home based business? What are some grants that I can apply for to help me?
I am interested in starting a home based business, at least home based for now. I want to design and sell plus sized clothing. Do I need a business license? What about financial assistance? Also if its needed it will be located in middle TN.

Answer by Stephen T
You will need a state tax ID number for sales tax purposes. If you need a city license you need to check with the local city clerk. Also make sure you can operate a home-based business in that area by contacting the zoning department. You probably won’ get a SBA grant to start that particular business but I’m sure if you asked around you could get a low-interest loan. Good luck.

I have a home based business, do I have to do a limited liability corp?

with 5 comments

Question by Lisa A: I have a home based business, do I have to do a limited liability corp?
I want to protect myself from people, but it is only a home based business.
When do you or should you incorporate your business? If I have to incorporate where is the cheapest to do it and why?
I make my own cosmetics from home.
Which is the safest to do:
Corporations
Limited Liability and so on. Which do I do?

Best answer:

Answer by Vainglorious
You do not have a limited liabilty corp if you have a sole propiertership. There are several reasons to incorporate.

Advantages
1) Risk of being sued
2) Tax benifits
3) Protection of Name

Disadvantages
1) Costly, lots of paperwork, you need a lawyer
2) Yearly fees
3) Tax benifits only come in to play if your bussiness makes alot of money

I would almost allways reccomened against it

Business Q&A: Can i take deductions for a home based business beyond the revenue i brought in?

with 6 comments

Question by mwright555: Can i take deductions for a home based business beyond the revenue i brought in?
I under withheld in my regular full time job and owe alot in taxes…i have a part time home based business that i spent alot more on than i made, can i use deductions to offset the revenue as well as lower my gross income from my regular job? I read u can only use the deductions up to whatever the revenue was for the home based business?

Best answer:

Answer by Judy
If you are really trying to make it into a business, then yes it’s possible to take deductions for more expenses than you had revenue for the year. But if the IRS declares it a hobby, your deductions would be limited to your revenue.
